About Maternity Africa
Maternity Africa is a Christian-based non-profit organization providing high-quality maternity care and specialized fistula treatment to marginalized women in Tanzania. Based just outside Arusha, their clinical excellence is rooted in kindness and respect for every patient.
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will manage a wide range of maternal health services, categorized into the following key areas:
1. Clinical & Obstetric Care
- Provide comprehensive prenatal, labour, delivery, and postnatal care.
- Manage obstetric emergencies and identify high-risk pregnancies early.
- Perform routine gynecological exams and screenings.
- Administer childhood vaccinations (Under 5) and family planning services.
- Monitor medications, injections, and IV infusions during active labour.
2. Patient Education & Support
- Offer emotional support to mothers and newborns.
- Educate parents on family planning and newborn care.
- Advocate for patients within a collaborative healthcare team.
3. Administration & Mentorship
- Maintain accurate medical records and electronic data.
- Supervise and train student midwives on clinical rotations.
- Ensure timely referral of patients to specialists when necessary.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must possess the following:
- Education: Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery.
- Licensing: Valid TNMC registration and a current Nursing Practising License.
- Experience: At least 3 years of experience, specifically in labour wards, Reproductive and Child Health (RCH), or theatre environments.
- Skills:
- Proven competence in managing obstetric emergencies.
- Strong interpersonal skills in English and Kiswahili.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
- Ethics: A patient-centered, ethical, and compassionate approach to care.
