We are seeking a highly competent and motivated Patient Safety Officer to join our team in Dar es Salaam. This role is pivotal in fostering a culture of safety, reducing clinical risks, and ensuring the highest standards of patient-centered care.

Duties and Responsibilities

Your mission will be to strengthen the hospitalโ€™s patient safety framework through the following pillars:

1. Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure rigorous adherence to Joint Commission International (JCI) standards and SafeCare policies.
  • Lead the implementation and monitoring of International Patient Safety Goals (IPSG).
  • Conduct comprehensive internal clinical audits and participate in external evaluations.

2. Risk Management & Analysis

  • Coordinate incident reviews and perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for clinical events (e.g., falls, pressure ulcers).
  • Conduct clinical documentation reviews and chart audits to identify areas for improvement.
  • Monitor patient transfers and ambulance services to ensure safety during transit.

3. Training & Mentorship

  • Provide specialized training and mentorship to staff on patient safety standards.
  • Support Continuous Medical Education (CME) and Continuous Nursing Education (CNE) sessions.

4. Reporting & Strategy

  • Prepare detailed monthly and quarterly IPSG reports and validate safety data.
  • Participate in mortality and morbidity reviews and contribute to the development of clinical policies.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Nursing (Mandatory).
  • Licensing: Must hold a valid license from the Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council (TNMC).
  • Experience: At least 2 years of clinical experience in a reputable hospital setting.
  • Added Advantage: A background in Health Management or Public Health.
