Maternal and newborn health remain critical priorities in Tanzania, and Thamini Uhai is at the forefront of this mission. Formerly known as the World Lung Foundation, this NGO has partnered with the Government of Tanzania since 2008 to save lives in underserved regions.

With the launch of the Mjamzito na Mtoto Salama Program (2025–2030), supported by Bloomberg Philanthropies and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Thamini Uhai is looking for dedicated professionals to join their team.

Program Overview: Mjamzito na Mtoto Salama

This five-year initiative aims to drastically reduce maternal and neonatal mortality across Geita, Katavi, and Kigoma. The program focuses on:

  • Strengthening Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (EmONC).
  • Scaling up care for small and sick newborns.
  • Improving Antenatal (ANC) and Postnatal Care (PNC).

1. Clinical & Program Roles

Program Officer – Newborn Health (3 Positions)

  • Focus: Implementing newborn health interventions and neonatal resuscitation training.
  • Requirements: Bachelor’s in Medicine, Nursing, or Midwifery; clinical expertise in Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC).

Program Officer – Maternal Health (2 Positions)

  • Focus: Strengthening ANC, PNC, and EmONC service delivery.
  • Requirements: Bachelor’s in Medicine or Nursing; strong background in government health systems.

2. Management & MERL Roles

Manager – Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL)

  • Focus: Leading system design, data quality, and KPIs for the entire program.
  • Requirements: Master’s in Public Health or Epidemiology; expert-level knowledge of DHIS2 and HMIS.

Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Officer

  • Focus: Data collection, validation, and mentoring facility staff in Geita.
  • Requirements: Bachelor’s in Statistics or Public Health; 3+ years in M&E.

3. Advocacy & Communications

Advocacy and Communications Manager

  • Focus: Policy development, donor relations, and high-level stakeholder engagement.
  • Requirements: Master’s in MPH, Law, or Public Admin; 10 years of experience.

Advocacy and Communication Officer

  • Focus: Social Behavior Change (SBC) strategies and digital platform management.
  • Requirements: Bachelor’s in Communications or Journalism.
