Located within the Administration Division in Arusha, the Nurse (G6) works under the direct supervision of the IRMCT Medical Officer. This role is a blend of clinical care, emergency response, and administrative management of the Medical Unit.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Clinical & Emergency Care

  • Emergency Response: Respond to emergency calls and assist the Medical Officer in providing immediate care.
  • Walk-in Clinic: Conduct clinical assessments for staff and facilitate referrals to specialists or hospitals when necessary.
  • Liaison: Act as the bridge between patients, private doctors, family members, and paramedics.

2. Mission & Travel Preparedness

  • Vaccinations: Administer vaccines and provide instructions on malaria prophylaxis for staff on official travel.
  • Medical Clearances: Ensure staff are medically fit for reassignment and provide training on the use of travel medical kits.

3. Unit Management & Administration

  • Operations: Manage the day-to-day administration of the Medical Unit.
  • Procurement: Act as the focal person for ordering and managing medical supplies.
  • Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate medical records and ensure the clinic is always operationally ready.
  • Data Analysis: Collect and analyze health data for reporting and decision-making.

4. Health Promotion

  • Education: Assist in programs regarding office ergonomics and occupational health.
  • Visualizations: Update medical information materials, such as brochures or web pages.

Qualification and Experience

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Professional Nursing qualification from an accredited school of Nursing is required.
  • Professionalism: Mastery of clinical and travel nursing; training in CPR/BLS (ACLS/ATLS is a plus).
  • Planning & Organizing: Ability to prioritize activities and adjust plans as necessary.
  • Accountability: Taking ownership of responsibilities and honoring commitments.
  • Clie+nt Orientation: Maintaining productive partnerships by seeing things from the client’s point of view.
