Job Description
The Medical Officer in Charge of Katavi Regional Referral Hospital (KRRH) invites applications from qualified Tanzanians to fill various contract-based vacancies for a period of one (1) year as detailed below:
Vacancy Positions and Qualifications
1. Technologist Grade II (Radiographer/Radiology) – 1 Post
Qualifications: Holder of a 3-year Diploma in Medical Radiography/Radiology Technology from a government-recognized institution, and registered with the relevant professional Board/Council.
Duties and Responsibilities

Perform imaging examinations on patients as directed.

Maintain radiology equipment and accessories.
-
Inspect X-ray films for diagnostic quality.

Store and manage patient imaging records until reports reach doctors.

Supervise staff working under them.
-
Advise on radiation safety and protection matters within the work area.

Sterilize and maintain medical/diagnostic tools.
-
Conduct initial training for new staff.

Perform other related duties.

2. Medical Attendants (Mhudumu wa Afya) – 12 Posts
Qualifications: Form IV (CSEE) graduates who have completed a one-year certificate course in a health-related field.
Breakdown of Medical Attendant Roles

Laundry (Ufuaji) – 04 Posts: Collect soiled patient linen/clothing, sort, clean, machine-wash, dry, iron, fold, store, and distribute them.

Environmental Health / Gardening (Afya ya Mazingira) – 02 Posts: Cut grass, prune trees, plant flowers/trees/grass when needed, water gardens daily, and maintain general cleanliness of the outdoor grounds.

Drainage/Sewer Unblocking (Kuzibua Mifereji) – 01 Post: Unblock wastewater drains, trenches, and sewage lines; perform related tasks assigned by leadership.

Medical Gas Distribution (Usambazaji wa Mitungi ya Hewa Tiba) – 02 Posts: Refill medical gas cylinders at the production plant, distribute cylinders where needed, maintain plant and cylinder equipment, and report any operational challenges.

Incinerator Operator (Mtambo wa Uteketezaji Taka) – 01 Post: Manage hazardous waste collected from medical areas, operate the waste incinerator plant, bury ashes after incineration, report maintenance needs, and keep inventory of tools.

Porter (Mhudumu-porter) – 02 Posts: Transfer patients who cannot walk to various service departments and safely return them, deliver laboratory samples, maintain ward equipment (wheelchairs, stretchers, etc.), and ensure tools remain clean.
3. Driver (Dereva)
Qualifications: Form IV graduate holding a Class E and C (or C1, C2, C3) Driving License, with at least one year of accident-free driving experience. Must have attended driving training from VETA or another government-recognized college. Applicants with a Trade Test Grade II certificate in mechanics will be given priority.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Inspect vehicles before and after trips
- Drive staff to various official destinations
- Perform minor vehicle repairs
- Collect and distribute various official documents
- Log all trip details in the vehicle logbook
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness, and
- Perform other tasks directed by the supervisor.

Salary Scale: Salaries for all positions will adhere to the National Guidelines issued on December 24, 2025, regarding the employment terms of contract workers in the healthcare cadre.

Age & Nationality: Applicants must be Tanzanian citizens aged between 18 and 45 years.
