Job Description

Kisongo Health Centre (KHC), strategically located along Dodoma Road at the Kisongo Town Centre (popularly known as Ghorofani), is a premier community healthcare provider in Arusha. As the primary health care facility serving our local community, we are dedicated to delivering accessible, high-quality medical services.

We are currently seeking qualified, motivated, and ethical professionals to fill the following positions at our work station in Kisongo, Arusha:

Available Positions

  • Clinical Officers (CO) – 3 Posts

  • Nurses (RN/EN) – 3 Posts

  • Medical Lab Technicians – 2 Posts

  • Pharmacy Technicians – 2 Posts

  • Laboratory Assistants – 2 Posts

Eligibilities and Competencies

Across all positions, successful candidates must possess:

  • A Valid Working License.

  • At least one (1) year of working experience.

  • Excellent computer skills and strong communication, collaborative, and problem-solving skills.

  • Effective time management to prioritize tasks, with the ability to work under minimal supervision.

  • A high standard of integrity, accountability, and a commitment to maintaining strict patient confidentiality.

Positions and Specific Requirements

1. Clinical Officers (CO) — 3 Posts

Qualifications: Diploma in Clinical Medicine.

Duties and Responsibilities

    • Diagnose and treat common ailments in both outpatient and inpatient departments.

    • Conduct thorough history taking, physical examinations, and interpret laboratory/imaging investigations.

    • Perform minor surgical procedures and administer medications.

    • Provide prompt emergency care and manage clinical supplies/supervise staff.

    • Deliver health education, counseling, and handle timely specialist referrals.

2. Nurses (RN/EN) — 3 Posts

Qualifications: Diploma or Certificate in Nursing and Midwifery (or related studies).

Duties and Responsibilities

    • Provide general nursing care, assist with patient hygiene, personal care, and mobility assistance (turning, repositioning, transferring).

    • Measure and record vital signs, monitoring closely for signs of pain or infection.

    • Provide nutritional support, serve meals, and document fluid/food intake.

    • Maintain clean, safe patient environments following strict infection control protocols.

    • Perform basic medical procedures (catheter care, changing bandages, prepping equipment) and offer emotional support.

3. Medical Lab Technicians & Laboratory Assistants — 2 Posts Each

Qualifications and Experience

    • Lab Technicians: Diploma in Medical Laboratory / Health Laboratory Sciences.

    • Laboratory Assistants: Certificate in Health Laboratory or related studies.

Duties and Responsibilities

    • Perform high-level medical testing and analyze body fluids (blood, urine, tissue samples).

    • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment (microscopes, Hematology analyzers, automated cell counters).

    • Accurately record test data and enter results into patients’ medical records.

    • Ensure adherence to good laboratory practices and maintain safe, sterile environments.

4. Pharmacy Technicians — 2 Posts

Qualifications: Diploma in Pharmacy or related studies.

Duties and Responsibilities

    • Receive prescription requests, prepare, and dispense prescription and over-the-counter medications.

    • Determine potential drug interactions, price prescriptions, and counsel patients on proper usage.

    • Manage pharmacy inventory, process medical insurance claims, and ensure proper storage of medications.

    • Package and label prescription bottles, train new pharmacy staff, and assist with administrative tasks.

General Duties for All Roles

  • Provide continuous health education and counseling to patients and families.

  • Ensure meticulous and proper documentation of patient care in medical records.

  • Submit timely reports, assist colleagues across departments, and carry out tasks assigned by the leadership team.
