8 Research Assistant Job at The University of Dodoma
The University of Dodoma (UDOM), in partnership with the Ministry of Health of Tanzania and the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM), is implementing the “AI-Facilitated Ultrasound Feasibility and Assessment of Resources and Integration (SAFARI) Project”.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following position:
- Position Title: Research Assistant (RA) – SAFARI Project
- Number of Posts: 8 posts (one per council across Dodoma Region)
- Working Sites: One position is available in each of the following councils: Dodoma City Council, Bahi District, Chamwino District, Chemba District, Kondoa District, Kondoa Town Council, Kongwa District, and Mpwapwa District. Residents of these specific councils are strongly preferred.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Collect, record, and manage obstetric ultrasound scan data using study-approved tools and protocols.
- Liaise with Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) facility teams to embed study procedures.
- Coordinate scheduling and integration of project activities within antenatal care (ANC) service delivery.
- Guide and support health care providers in the correct use of AI-assisted obstetric ultrasound (AI-OBUS) workflows.
- Prepare and submit weekly progress reports to the coordination team.
- Adhere to study protocols, ethical guidelines, and quality assurance standards.
- Attend project training sessions, review meetings, and supervisory visits.
- Report directly to the designated SAFARI Project Supervisor at UDOM.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Midwifery, Public Health, Medicine, Health Information Sciences, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Required Skills:
- Experience in data collection for research, public health, or clinical programs.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills (effective in both Swahili and English).
- Ability to work effectively within health facility environments.
- Proficiency in electronic data collection tools (tablet-based applications and digital management platforms).
- Working knowledge of research ethics and participant confidentiality.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in MCH or reproductive health programs, familiarity with ANC protocols, field-based research experience, and data analysis skills.
Terms of Service and Remuneration
- Nature of Contract: Contractual basis for an initial period of three (3) months, renewable based on performance, project needs, and funding.
- Remuneration: Competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, subject to statutory deductions.
