The Role
As a Nursing Officer, you will provide comprehensive clinical care, from routine assessments to emergency life-saving interventions. You will play a vital role in patient advocacy, occupational health surveillance, and the efficient management of ward operations.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Clinical Excellence & Patient Care
- Assessment & Monitoring: Perform physical exams and monitor vital signs to track patient progress and well-being.
- Medication & Procedures: Safely administer prescribed IV therapies and injections; assist doctors with surgeries and minor procedures like suturing.
- Wound & Emergency Care: Manage complex wound dressings and deliver life-saving interventions using advanced equipment (defibrillators, ventilators, ECG).
2. Ward & Unit Management
- Operations: Handle patient admissions, discharges, and follow-up instructions.
- Resource Control: Manage inventory for drugs, medical supplies, and linen.
- Documentation: Maintain precise medical histories and nursing charts via electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Safety: Enforce strict infection control protocols to maintain a sterile clinical environment.
3. Occupational Health & Surveillance
- Specialized Testing: Conduct valid Audiometry (hearing), Spirometry (lung function), and Optometry (vision) screenings.
- Medical Surveillance: Execute entry, periodic, and exit medical examinations for employees.
4. Leadership & Professional Development
- Supervision: Oversee staff nurses and assistants; plan and implement duty rosters.
- Mentorship: Conduct clinical teaching and orient new staff to nursing protocols.
- Reporting: Analyze data for trends and prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports for management.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or equivalent from a recognized university.
- Registration: Valid registration and practicing license from the Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council (TNMC).
- Experience: Minimum of three (3) years in nursing, with extensive experience in Emergency, Critical Care, or Intensive Care (ICU).
- Certifications: Valid Grade E (or better) driving license.
- Technical Skills: Computer savvy with the ability to operate advanced medical machinery and EMR systems.
