The Role
As the Operating Theatre Nurse Manager, you will be the clinical and operational backbone of our surgical services. You will orchestrate high-stakes environments, ensuring that patient safety, surgical precision, and staff efficiency meet global benchmarks.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership & Mentorship
- Clinical Supervision: Direct and coordinate all nursing services within the Operating Theatre, providing high-level support to the surgical team.
- Staff Development: Conduct performance appraisals, identify competency gaps, and provide coaching or formal counseling to ensure a high-performing team.
- Innovation: Lead the design and implementation of evidence-based nursing care models and service redesign initiatives.
2. Operational Excellence
- Resource Management: Oversee the lifecycle of specialized equipment, surgical supplies, and pharmaceuticals to ensure zero downtime.
- Efficiency: Manage FTE (Full-Time Equivalent) workloads and complex rostering to maximize theatre utilization and patient throughput.
- Reporting: Monitor and report on KPIs, morbidity/mortality reviews, and audit recommendations to the relevant hospital committees.
3. Quality & Patient Safety
- Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to JCI standards, Ministry of Health (MoH) regulations, and internal nursing protocols.
- Safety Culture: Champion quality improvement projects that minimize risk and enhance patient outcomes in the perioperative environment.
Qualification and Experience
Education & Licensure
- Diploma in Nursing from a recognized medical training institution.
- Valid License and current registration with the Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council (TNMC).
Experience & Skills
- A minimum of 8 years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 2 years specialized in Operating Theatre practice.
- Proven expertise in nursing management, workload optimization, and staff education.
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to collaborate effectively with surgeons and multidisciplinary specialists.
