Job Description

The Commissioner General of the Prison Service announces job vacancies for Tanzanian youth with a Form Four education (O-Level) and those with skills in various fields at Diploma and Degree levels as outlined in this announcement.

All applicants are required to have the following qualifications:

General Requirements

  • Diploma in Nursing.
  • Citizenship: Must be a Tanzanian citizen with a National Identification Authority (NIDA) ID or number.
  • Age: Form IV graduates must be 18–24 years old; those with specialized skills must be 18–28.
  • Education: Must have a Form IV certificate or higher qualifications as specified.
  • Health: Must be physically and mentally fit, verified by a government doctor.
  • Height: Minimum height of 5’4” for women and 5’7” for men.
  • Marital Status: Must be unmarried and have no children.
  • Background: No tattoos, no criminal record, and no prior government employment.
  • Discipline: Must demonstrate good character and discipline.
  • Commitment: Willing to attend initial prison officer training and work anywhere in Tanzania Mainland.
  • Self-Funding: Must cover personal expenses during the initial recruitment process until reporting for training.
