Position Summary

IHI, through the **PfVIMT Project**, is seeking a qualified and experienced individual to fill the role of **Clinical Officer**. The successful candidate will work at our clinical research sites located in Bagamoyo, where participant recruitment and scheduled study visits are conducted.

Primary responsibilities include screening study volunteers, completing case report forms (CRFs), and providing clinical care in alignment with National Standard Treatment Guidelines.

Duties & Responsibilities

Clinical & Protocol Management

* Conduct recruitment, screening, and enrollment visits strictly according to specified protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
* Provide clinical care and treat patients in accordance with National Standard Treatment Guidelines.
* Review laboratory results and promptly resolve data collection queries.
* Supervise study procedures to ensure full compliance with approved protocols, ICH Guidelines, and relevant local regulations.
* Participate in the development of study SOPs and other essential study documents.

Ethics & Compliance

  • Ensure all personnel involved in the trial thoroughly understand and follow the protocol, SOPs, and related study documents.
  • Uphold all ethical standards approved by the institutional review board during the study.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism, ethical conduct, accountability, and integrity.

Community Engagement & Collaboration

 

  • Attend community sensitization meetings for study volunteers.
  • Support Study and Community Engagement Coordinators in planning, organizing, and coordinating field work.
  • Establish and maintain strong working linkages with participating health facilities and key community stakeholders.
  • Participate in internal, external, and departmental facility meetings throughout the financial year.
  • Build trust and foster open communication to improve overall project outcomes.
  • Carry out any additional duties as assigned by the Project Leader.

Job Requirements

Essential Qualifications

Education: Diploma in Clinical Medicine (Associate Degree).
Licensure: Must be enrolled and authorized to practice as a Clinical Officer by the **Medical Council of Tanganyika**.

Required Experience

A minimum of 12 months (1 year) of work experience in clinical research.

Desired Skills

Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines.
Time Management: Proven ability to establish priorities, meet strict deadlines, and plan project timelines.
Core Competencies: Self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision, with excellent problem-solving capabilities.
Communication: Collaborative team player with effective communication skills.
Language: Fluent in both **English and Swahili

Working Hours: 8 hours per day
