Job Description
Position Summary
Makete District Council is seeking to recruit twelve (12) competent and safety-conscious Drivers to join our transport team. The successful candidates will be responsible for operating Council vehicles while adhering to all traffic regulations and maintaining high standards of vehicle care.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive vehicle inspections before and after each trip to ensure operational safety
- Provide timely and secure transportation for staff to various work-related destinations
- Conduct routine vehicle maintenance and minor repairs as needed
- Handle official documents with confidentiality during collection and distribution
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date vehicle logbooks for all trips
- Ensure assigned vehicles are kept in pristine condition through regular cleaning
- Execute additional transport-related tasks as directed by supervisors
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Form IV Certificate (CSEE) with full passes
- Licensing:
- Valid Class E or C driving license
- Minimum 12 months of verifiable, accident-free driving experience
- Preferred Skills:
- Certificate in Basic Vehicle Mechanics from VETA or equivalent recognized institution
- Defensive driving certification will be an added advantage
