The Tanzania People’s Defence Force (JWTZ) has officially announced new military recruitment opportunities targeting Tanzanian youth with qualifications ranging from secondary education to university-level degrees.
JWTZ Yatangaza Nafasi za Kujiunga na Jeshi, This announcement was made on April 30, 2025, by Acting Director of Information and JWTZ Spokesperson, Colonel Gaudentius Ilonda, during a press briefing in Dodoma.
Who is Eligible to Apply?
According to the announcement, the following are the key requirements for applicants:
- Must be a Tanzanian citizen with a valid National ID.
- Must be in good physical and mental health.
- Must possess good moral character and discipline.
- Must not have a criminal record or have been convicted of any offense.
- Must have an original birth certificate along with academic and professional certificates.
- Should not have served in other security institutions such as the Police, Prisons, Training Institutes, or Anti-Smuggling Forces.
- Must have completed National Service (JKT) under either voluntary or statutory terms and hold a valid certificate.
Age Requirements
The age limit varies depending on the level of education:
- O-Level and A-Level graduates: Must not exceed 24 years of age.
- Diploma holders: Must not exceed 26 years of age.
- Degree holders: Must not exceed 27 years of age.
- Specialist Medical Doctors: Must not exceed 35 years of age.

All applications should be handwritten and submitted to the Headquarters of the Army in Dodoma from 01 May, 2025 to 14 May, 2025, accompanied by the following documents:
- a. A copy of the National ID card or NIDA number.
- b. A copy of the birth certificate, school and college certificates.
- c. A copy of the JKT certificate for applicants who have completed the contract voluntarily.
- d. The applicant’s mobile phone number.
