In a significant move to strengthen public service and address employment gaps, the Tanzanian government has approved the recruitment of 33,212 new employees for the 2024/25 fiscal year. The announcement was made by Hon. George Simbachawene, the Minister of State in the President’s Office for Public Service Management and Good Governance.

Direct Recruitment for 10,000 Teachers

A key highlight of this employment drive is the allocation of 10,000 teaching positions, which will be filled without interviews. Instead, eligible candidates will be selected directly from database, the government’s employment database.

Minister Simbachawene emphasized the government’s commitment to clearing the backlog of qualified teachers awaiting placement.

“For the teaching cadre, we will continue to recruit from the Kanzidata to ensure we clear the backlog. It is not easy to complete this process, as there are still many qualified candidates awaiting placement,” he stated.

Teachers who have already undergone interviews will be prioritized, ensuring a swift deployment process to meet the country’s growing educational demands.

Youth Employment and National Development

The government also recognizes the critical role of youth in national development. During the announcement, NETO Youth—a platform representing young job seekers—was given an opportunity to voice their concerns. Minister Simbachawene reiterated the government’s dedication to creating more job opportunities for young Tanzanians, particularly in sectors facing shortages, such as education.

“The government’s role is to continue seeking employment opportunities to meet national needs,” he added.

A Step Toward Better Public Service and Good Governance

This recruitment initiative underscores the government’s efforts to:

  • Improve education by reducing teacher shortages.
  • Enhance public service efficiency through structured hiring processes.
  • Empower youth by increasing job opportunities in key sectors.
