Nurse-midwife (ANO/NO) Job at Maternity Africa

Maternity Africa is a Christian-based non-profit dedicated to restoring hope and dignity to marginalized women. We provide clinical excellence in fistula treatment and maternity care, demonstrating love and compassion to all, regardless of background. We are looking for a dedicated Nurse-Midwife to join our team in Arusha.


As a Nurse-Midwife at Kivulini Maternity Centre, you will provide high-standard care to vulnerable women through every stage of motherhood. This role is ideal for a professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and is committed to managing obstetric emergencies with competence and heart.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Clinical Care: Provide comprehensive prenatal, labor, delivery, and postpartum care. Assist in birth injury treatments, including specialized fistula surgeries.
  • Emergency Management: Monitor labor closely and competently manage obstetric emergencies, administering medications or IV infusions as required.
  • Patient Education: Empower mothers through education on parenting, family planning, and preventative health.
  • Specialized Support: Diagnose medical conditions, identify high-risk pregnancies, and administer pediatric vaccinations (under 5s).
  • Mentorship & Records: Maintain meticulous medical records and serve as a tutor/mentor for student midwives.

Qualification and Experience

We seek a professional who combines technical skill with a deep sense of empathy.

  • Education: Minimum Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery.
  • Licensure: Valid TNMC registration and a current Nursing Practicing License (Mandatory).
  • Experience: At least 3 years of clinical experience, specifically within labor wards, RCH, or operating theaters.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office and fluent in both English and Kiswahili.
  • Soft Skills: A compassionate communicator who embodies kindness and works seamlessly within a multidisciplinary medical team.
