The Public Service Recruitment Secretariat (PSRS) of Tanzania is an agency under the Ministry of Labour that deals with and plans employment-related matters in the country.
Its primary role is to formulate and implement employment policies, manage labor market information systems, and promote investment in workforce skills to increase productive employment opportunities.
The Secretariat works in collaboration with the private sector, civil society organizations, and educational institutions to ensure that Tanzania’s workforce possesses the necessary qualifications and aligns with the demands of both the local and international job markets.
It also oversees the licensing of employment agencies to regulate and enhance the management of employment promotion.
In addition to policy planning, the Secretariat provides direct services to job seekers and employers through its official employment portal (such as portal.ajira.go.tz) and job centers located in various regions.
Through these systems, job seekers can create profiles, search for advertised job vacancies, and apply for various opportunities. Employers, on the other hand, can advertise job openings and analyze applicants.
Moreover, the Secretariat is involved in promoting skills development programs and investment in human capital, such as vocational and technical training, to improve the capabilities of Tanzanian workers and make them more competitive in the job market.
