Migration Health Nurse-Expedited SVN
Operating under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM) and direct supervision of the Migration Health Physician, the Migration Health Nurse is responsible for clinical activities at the Migration Health Assessment Centre (MHAC) in Makere.
You will ensure that health assessments for migrants and refugees meet the strict technical standards of resettlement countries.

- Clinical Screening: Perform daily medical exams, including checking vital signs, height, weight, and visual acuity.
- Specimen Collection: Collect blood, urine, or sputum samples and ensure safe transportation to the lab.
- Patient Care: Administer vaccinations and oversee TB/STI treatments and referrals.
- Counseling: Provide pre- and post-test counseling for TB and HIV education and management.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate biodata, verify identities at every stage, and update registers for all health investigations.
- Logistics & Support: Monitor pharmacy stock and medical kits. Assist with mobile missions and perform medical escort duties for migrants during travel.
- Reporting: Prepare administrative reports and collect statistical data for the Senior Nurse or CMHO.
Qualifications and Experience
Education & Licensing
- Bachelorโs Degree in Nursing (requires 3 years of relevant clinical experience).
- OR a Diploma in Nursing (requires 5 years of relevant clinical experience).
- Mandatory: A valid, current license to practice nursing in Tanzania.
Technical Experience
- Expertise in phlebotomy and clinical nursing.
- Knowledge of patient safety, infection prevention, and disease control.
- Advantageous: Specialized training in TB management, mass immunizations, communicable diseases, or emergency care.
- IT Skills: Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Access).
Languages
- Fluency in English and Kiswahili is required.
