Medical Assistant-Expedited SVN at IOM
Working under the direct supervision of the Migration Health Physician, the Medical Assistant is a vital link between IOM and migrants.
You will ensure the smooth flow of the Migration Health Assessment Centre (MHAC) by managing either the Call Centre or the Reception and Data Processing unit.

1. Call Centre Operations
- Inquiry Management: Provide migrants with accurate information regarding health assessments via phone.
- Scheduling: Register migrants in the IOM database, and schedule or confirm medical appointments.
- Coordination: Prepare master lists for service providers and maintain daily statistics on health assessments.
2. Reception & Data Entry
- Applicant Processing: Verify identities, explain registration procedures, and capture applicant biodata and photos.
- Document Management: Print medical/consent forms and package files for mobile missions or courier transmission.
- Records Maintenance: File all correspondence (emails, faxes, reports) and process proof-of-payment (bank deposit slips) for the finance department.
Qualifications and Experience
Education & Experience
- University Degree + 3 years of relevant experience OR Secondary School Diploma + 5 years of relevant experience.
- Typing Speed: Minimum of 60 words per minute.
- Technical Proficiency: High computer literacy (Windows/MS Office) is mandatory.
Preferred “Bonus” Skills
- Experience in a medical institution or international NGO.
- Knowledge of SQL, Power BI, or Electronic Health Record Systems (EHRs).
- Knowledge of Interim Federal Health Programme (IFHP) protocols.
- IT/Data Entry certification or web page design skills.
Languages
- Fluency in English and Kiswahili is required.
