Job Description
The Country Lead: Financial Control is responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial control, compliance, and statutory reporting within the country.
The role ensures accurate financial reporting, adherence to local and international accounting standards, and strong internal controls.
This position plays a strategic role in supporting business decisions, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency across the Coca-Cola Kwanza entity.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Provide IFRS leadership and expertise to ensure financial reporting meets international standards.
- Ensure compliance with group policies and local legislative requirements (distinct from the Tax Manager’s role in handling specific tax strategies).
- Oversee tax accounting processes, collaborating with the Tax Manager for strategic tax planning.
- Ensure adherence to GAAP/IFRS and relevant financial legislation to maintain financial integrity.
- Balance Sheet & Budgeting
- Provide an integrated and optimal Country Balance Sheet, distinct from the Commercial Finance Manager’s revenue/sales focus.
- Plan and manage annual and 3-year budgeting for balance sheets and capital investment, collaborating with the FP&A Manager.
- Operational Financial Control
- Ensure efficient processing of transactional activities (distinct from Supply Chain Finance Manager’s operational focus).
- Manage accounts payable (P2P), assets, and procurement-related financial processes, avoiding overlap with Procurement Manager’s supplier responsibilities.
- Deliver performance reporting and resolve financial queries.
- Governance & Leadership
- Establish a strong governance and control framework with clear accountability.
- Ensure the function is optimally resourced with skilled personnel.
- Lead integration of financial systems/tools for cross-functional collaboration.
- Manage outsourced service providers (e.g., Genpact) to align with financial goals.
- Drive a continuous improvement mindset across the Business Centre.
- Strategic Collaboration
- Provide timely financial insights (distinct from FP&A Manager’s planning/analysis).
- Oversee import/export compliance (without duplicating Procurement Manager’s operational role).
Skills, Experience & Education
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
- Professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CIMA) preferred.
Experience
- 5–7 years in Financial Controlling, with at least 5 years in management roles.
- Proven expertise in IFRS, GAAP, and local compliance.
- Strong knowledge of group accounting policies and process improvement.
- Experience with ERP systems (MSD), BPC, BW, Excel, and PowerPoint.
