From training national staff in how to store and manage life-saving medications through to ensuring that enough drugs are flown in to tackle sudden malaria outbreaks, as a Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) pharmacist you will be responsible for managing the ordering, supply, inventory and distribution of drugs and medical supplies to MSF-supported clinics and hospitals.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the organisation and functioning of the project’s central pharmacy and other peripheral units and ensure that all protocols are established and followed and that products and equipment are handled appropriately (hygiene standards, security procedures, cleaning, pest control, etc.)
  • Participate in defining and updating the annual planning and budget for pharmacy activities
  • Monitor stock levels and supply processes to ensure correct stock management (e.g. avoid expiries, report on drug consumption levels and medical devices used)
  • In cooperation with the project Logistics Manager, ensure maintenance of the cold chain and storage conditions (light, temperature and humidity)
  • Support the ordering and supply of medicines and medical devices 
  • Manage, train and supervise the Pharmacy team through activities such as recruitment, capacity-building, defining job description, briefing/debriefing and evaluation of staff, and ensure that they use the required clothing and equipment
  • Contribute to monthly reports according to guidelines (medical statistical reports, etc.)

Requirements

  • Pharmacy qualification sufficient to be recognized and practice as Pharmacist in your home country
  • Two years’professional experience as pharmacist
  • Fluency in English and/or French; any other languages are an asset (Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Russian)
  • Available for a minimum of six months
