Job Vacancies: Project Officers – Children in Street Situations (3 Positions)
Duty Stations: Dar es Salaam, Dodoma, and Mwanza
Reports To: Project Manager
Position Overview
The Project Officer will play a key role in supporting the smooth and timely delivery of project activities, in accordance with the approved work plan and allocated budget. Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the role involves technical assistance, stakeholder coordination at both national and local levels, reporting, organizing capacity-building initiatives, and enhancing project visibility and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure project activities are implemented effectively and meet the intended outcomes.
- Collect and report data regularly, documenting lessons learned and best practices.
- Maintain strong relationships with local government authorities, civil society, private organizations, and communities.
- Manage budgets in line with organizational policies and project plans.
- Identify, train, and oversee social workers and drop-in center staff.
- Plan and coordinate training sessions, workshops, and technical support activities.
- Participate in cross-district and national project-related tasks when needed.
- Submit monthly project updates and contribute to progress reports.
- Engage in policy discussions and contribute to broader issues impacting the project.
- Support stakeholder involvement at all levels and contribute to communication strategies and public engagement.
- Facilitate regular meetings with project partners.
- Uphold SOS’s Child Protection Policy and work to prevent all forms of abuse, exploitation, and discrimination.
Required Qualifications and Competencies
- A bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, Community Development, or a related field.
- At least three years of experience working with street children or in community-based interventions.
- Proven project coordination and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong communication, report-writing, and computer literacy.
- Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and ethically within diverse environments.
- Fluency in English and local languages is an asset.
- Willingness to travel to mapped areas supporting street children.
- High levels of innovation, cultural sensitivity, and commitment to child protection.
