Agha Khan Foundation
Overview
In 1990, the early foundations of the Madrasa Early Childhood Programme were established in Zanzibar to respond to a request from local leaders for assistance in improving the overall level of educational achievement of their children.
This preceded the formalization of Aga Khan Foundation’s operations in Tanzania, expanding to Mainland Tanzania in 1991. In 2009, Aga Khan Foundation launched efforts to address rural poverty in the Lindi and Mtwara regions.
