The Clinical Officer is responsible for providing high-quality, patient-centered clinical care at the health center. The role involves diagnosing, treating, and managing patients’ medical conditions, promoting preventive healthcare, and ensuring compliance with clinical standards and protocols. As part of a newly opened health center, the Clinical Officer will also contribute to establishing efficient clinical systems and maintaining quality service delivery.

- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including history taking and physical examinations.
- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions.
- Prescribe medications and treatment plans in accordance with national guidelines and scope of practice.
- Perform minor surgical procedures and wound care as appropriate.
- Provide maternal and child health services, including antenatal and postnatal care.
- Manage emergency cases and provide first aid or stabilization before referral when necessary.
Preventive & Public Health Services
- Provide immunization services.
- Conduct health education and counseling on disease prevention, hygiene, nutrition, and lifestyle modification.
- Participate in community outreach programs and health campaigns.
- Promote infection prevention and control measures within the facility.
Records & Reporting
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records.
- Ensure proper documentation of diagnoses, treatments, and follow-ups.
- Compile and submit required clinical and statistical reports.
- Support implementation of health information systems.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Adhere to Ministry of Health policies, clinical protocols, and ethical standards.
- Participate in clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure safe handling of drugs, equipment, and medical supplies.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
Administrative & Operational Support
- Assist in setting up clinical workflows and standard operating procedures for the facility.
- Support inventory monitoring of medical supplies and pharmaceuticals.
- Collaborate with nurses, laboratory staff, and other healthcare workers to ensure coordinated care.
- Participate in staff meetings and continuous professional development activities.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Clinical Medicine and Surgery.
- Valid practicing license from the relevant regulatory authority.
- Registration with the appropriate professional council.
- At least [1–3] years of clinical experience (experience in primary healthcare preferred).
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Life Support is an added advantage.
- Strong clinical decision-making skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
