The Liwale District Council, in collaboration with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) – Doctors Without Borders, invites applications from qualified, competent, and motivated individuals to fill multiple healthcare positions.
These roles are part of an initiative aimed at strengthening Maternal and Child Health services within the district.
All positions are offered on a six-month contractual basis.

Available Positions
1. Medical Officer Grade II (3 Posts)
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide clinical care including pediatrics, obstetrics, and surgical services (both elective and emergency)
- Conduct disease surveillance and outbreak response
- Deliver health education to patients and communities
- Maintain accurate health records using MTUHA systems
- Participate in research, planning, and budgeting for health services
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Doctor of Medicine (MD) from a recognized institution
- Successful completion of a one-year internship
- Registered with the Medical Council of Tanganyika (MCT) with a valid practicing license
Salary Scale: TGHS E
2. Assistant Medical Officer Grade II (1 Post)
Duties and Responsibilities
- Diagnose and treat common illnesses
- Perform minor surgical procedures
- Supervise junior healthcare staff
- Promote community participation in the Community Health Fund (CHF)
- Manage medical equipment and records
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in Clinical Medicine (minimum 3 years)
- Registered with MCT with a valid license

3. Nurse Anaesthetist Grade II (1 Post)
Duties and Responsibilities
- Administer anesthesia during surgical procedures
- Provide nursing care in clinical and community settings
- Offer reproductive health services and patient counseling
- Maintain anesthesia equipment and supplies
Qualifications and Experience
- Certificate in Nursing (minimum 2 years)
- Registered with the Tanzania Nurses and Midwives Council (TNMC)
Salary Scale: TGHS C
4. Assistant Nursing Officer Grade II (7 Posts)
Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver nursing services to patients
- Collect and manage health data and statistics
- Supervise junior nursing staff
- Provide health education and reproductive health services
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in Nursing
- Registered with TNMC with a valid license

5. Nursing Officer Grade II (5 Posts)
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care
- Prepare and implement nursing care plans
- Deliver home-based care services
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Nursing
- Completed internship training
- Registered with TNMC with a valid license
- Must have experience in Operating Theatre or Neonatal ICU

6. Plumber Grade II (WATSAN Technician) (1 Post)
Duties and Responsibilities
- Inspect and maintain water supply and sewage systems
- Repair plumbing faults including leaks and pipe bursts
- Estimate materials required for maintenance
- Interpret building plans for plumbing installation
Qualifications and Experience
- Grade II Technical Certificate in Plumbing

7. Laboratory Technologist Grade II (1 Post)
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct laboratory tests and diagnostics
- Store and manage specimens for further analysis
- Maintain laboratory equipment and inventory
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in Health Laboratory Science
- Registered with the Health Laboratory Practitioners’ Council
Salary Scale: TGHS B
8. Health Attendant (11 Posts)
Duties and Responsibilities
- Register patients and manage medical records
- Ensure confidentiality of patient information
- Monitor vaccination status for children under five
- Compile and submit daily health reports
Qualifications and Experience
- Certificate in Records Management or related field
- Basic knowledge of healthcare services

9. Water and Sanitation Technician (WASH) (2 Posts)
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage medical waste disposal systems and incinerators
- Conduct disinfection procedures
- Monitor and report water quality and production
Qualifications and Experience
- Certificate of Secondary Education (Form IV)
Salary Scale: TGHOS A
