Role Purpose & Key Responsibilities
Role Purpose:
The Assets Project Accountant will be contracted for a two-year term (non-permanent), supporting the Manager: Assets Project Accounting in handling transactional aspects of asset and project accounting. This role addresses the rising workload and ensures tasks are executed in line with established procedures, policies, SOX compliance, and service-level agreements. The position also involves contributing to process improvements and issue resolution.
Additionally, the role will support other areas including Supply Chain Verification, Accounts Payable Business Support, and the Network & ITB teams. The individual will function as a shared resource across APA, P2P, and business units handling Capex projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the addition of fixed assets
- Monitor and track Capex commitments
- Generate reports on asset additions
- Verify asset requirements
- Assess and process the transfer of assets from ‘Assets Under Construction’ to ‘Completed Assets for Capitalization’
- Analyze VPC costs and clearing charges related to the Titan Project for capitalization
- Maintain a robust internal control environment and ensure policy compliance
- Ensure fixed asset reporting aligns with compliance and control standards
- Contribute to month-end APA close activities, including:
- Journal postings
- Reporting aged AUC
- Fixed Asset Register (FAR) vs General Ledger (GL) reconciliation
- Depreciation analysis and variance reporting
- Reconcile the asset sub-ledger
- Conduct physical verification of assets
- Assist with resolution of operational issues (e.g., budget transfers)
- Perform GRIR (Goods Received/Invoice Received) reconciliations
- Analyze and report foreign exchange impacts on Capex projects
- Achieve all assigned KPIs for Assets Project Accounting
- Manage asset disposals:
- Request disposal approvals
- Log and process disposal requests
- Generate disposal reports
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce with a focus on Accounting, or an Advanced Diploma in Accounting
- Professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is advantageous
- 2–4 years of relevant practical experience
- Proficient in advanced Microsoft Excel and other accounting software
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong analytical and reporting capabilities
- Ability to build networks and relationships
- Familiarity with Power BI and data insights tools
- Quick to learn, flexible, and adaptable
