The Teacher Support Programme (walimu wa kujitolea) under the Global Partnership for Education (GPE-TSP), coordinated by the President’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (PO-RALG / TAMISEMI), is implementing various interventions, including the coordination of the engagement of volunteer teachers.
As part of this initiative, the programme is inviting applications for 694 volunteer teaching positions in primary schools. These positions will be under Local Government Authorities and will be based in schools with the highest need, according to the Primary Teacher Allocation Protocol (P-TAP) outlined in the GPE-TSP project document.
Application Period
Graduates from government-recognized teacher training colleges are invited to apply for these walimu wa kujitolea positions in various primary schools as listed in the Online Teachers Application System (OTEAS). The application window is open from May 17 to May 30, 2025. These opportunities are open to graduates with either a Certificate (Astashahada) or a Diploma (Stashahada) in education.

This call is open to graduates who completed teacher education between 2015 and 2023.
Academic Qualifications for Walimu wa Kujitolea
Applicants must meet one of the following qualifications:
- Grade III A Teacher: Holder of a Certificate in Primary Education (Astashahada ya Ualimu Elimu ya Msingi)
- Grade III B Teacher: Holder of a Diploma in Early Childhood Education (Stashahada ya Ualimu Elimu ya Awali)
- Grade III B Teacher: Holder of a Diploma in Primary Education (Stashahada ya Ualimu Elimu ya Msingi)
General Requirements for Applicants
To be eligible for the walimu wa kujitolea positions, candidates must:
- Be a Tanzanian citizen.
- Be no older than 43 years of age.
- Attach certified copies of the following documents: Birth Certificate, Certificate of Secondary Education (Form IV or VI), and Teacher Education Certificate.
- Be willing to work in remote primary schools with critical teacher shortages.
- Not be employed by the government or any other institution.
- Not have been dismissed or retired from public service due to disciplinary issues.
- Possess a National Identification Number (NIDA).
- Upload all required documents to the online system.
- Applicants who studied secondary education outside Tanzania must obtain an Equivalent Number (EQ…) from the National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA).
