The Tanzania Atomic Energy Commission (TAEC) is a government institution established in 2003 under the Atomic Energy Act, Chapter 188. TAEC’s mandate is to regulate, promote, and ensure the safe and peaceful use of atomic energy and nuclear technology in Tanzania.
TAEC is responsible for regulating radiation sources, managing nuclear and radiation safety, providing professional services, and advancing research and development in nuclear science and technology. The Commission aims to protect people, property, and the environment from the harmful effects of ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, while promoting the beneficial application of nuclear technology in health, agriculture, industry, and education.
In line with international health standards and national development goals, TAEC continues to foster innovation and ensure the proper and safe application of nuclear science for the sustainable development of Tanzania.
