The Tanzania Police Force was officially established in 1919 during the British colonial era, initially to maintain law and order under colonial administration.
After independence, the force continued to operate under the laws of the newly formed nation.
It is currently governed by the Police Force and Auxiliary Services Act, Chapter 322 of the Laws of Tanzania.
The main purpose of the Tanzania Police Force is to maintain peace and security, protect life and property, prevent and detect crime, and enforce the laws of the country in a fair and just manner.
The Inspector General of Police informs all youths who have been selected to join the Tanzania Police Force that they are required to report to the Police Training School in Moshi from 12th June 2025 to 14th June 2025 for training.
Candidates who attended the interview in Dar es Salaam at the units under Police Headquarters are required to report in Dar es Salaam at the parade ground located at Police Barracks on Kilwa Road, behind Kilwa Road Police Station, on 12th June 2025 at 6:00 AM, for transportation to the Police Training School in Moshi.
