The Executive Director of Liwale District Council, in collaboration with the non-governmental organization Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), which provides maternal and child healthcare services, announces six-month contract job opportunities in the health sector for the following positions:

1. Assistant Nursing Officer Grade II – 15 Posts

A. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide nursing services
  • Collect vital health statistics
  • Supervise nurses under their care
  • Educate patients and communities about health issues
  • Offer preventive and reproductive health services
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on education, experience, and skills

B. Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Nursing from a government-recognized institution
  • Valid Nursing License and registration with the Tanzania Nurses and Midwives Council

2. Assistant Pharmaceutical Technician – 2 Positions

A. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare needs and usage of medicines and medical supplies
  • Order, store, and distribute medicines and supplies
  • Prepare usage reports
  • Maintain records
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on education, experience, and skills

B. Qualifications:

  • Completed Form Four (O-Level) and one-year training in a health-related field involving pharmaceuticals

C. Salary: According to government guidelines: TGHS A

3. Medical Officer Grade II – 1 Position

A. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct all medical-related duties in hospitals including pediatric care, obstetrics/gynecology, general and emergency surgeries
  • Provide and oversee health education and improve public health
  • Monitor, investigate, and prevent disease outbreaks
  • Keep statistics in line with HMIS (MTUHA) standards
  • Plan and evaluate health services
  • Train students and workers
  • Supervise and guide junior staff
  • Conduct and disseminate health research
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve health services
  • Prepare health service plans and budgets
  • Participate in medical audits and quality improvements
  • Provide outreach health services
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on education, experience, and skills

B. Qualifications:

  • Medical Degree from a government-recognized institution
  • Completion of a one-year internship
  • Registered with the Medical Council of Tanganyika

C. Salary: According to government guidelines: TGHS E

General Conditions for Applicants

  • Must be a Tanzanian citizen
  • Aged between 18 and 45 years
  • Attach a copy of the birth certificate
  • Job title should be clearly indicated in the application heading
  • Attach a detailed CV with reliable contact details and three referees
  • Attach certified copies of academic and professional certificates including:
    • Form IV certificate
    • Professional training certificate
    • Birth certificate
