Chemba District Council, established in July 2013 after splitting from Kondoa District, oversees governance of Chemba District in the Dodoma Region of Tanzania. The Council operates under the legal framework of the 1977 Constitution and the Local Government Act No. 7 of 1982, featuring a legislative body composed of 26 ward-elected councilors, nine special-seat councilors, and two parliamentary representatives.

The District Executive Director leads the executive branch and is supported by heads of departments, while ward and village governance is managed by Ward Executive Officers and Village Development Committees at the grassroots level. Covering an area of approximately 7,650 km² with a population estimated at 339,333 in 2022, Chemba District lies on Tanzania’s central plateau, characterized by a semi-arid climate with annual rainfall between 500–800 mm and elevations ranging from 1,200–1,500 m above sea level.

Agriculture—primarily subsistence farming of maize, millet, sorghum, sunflower, sesame and livestock—dominates the local economy, supplemented by small-scale trade, carpentry, masonry and apiculture. The Council faces development challenges including low electricity access, limited clean water infrastructure, and reliance on local financial revenue planning to fund essential public services like health, education, and water provision
